Prof. Youn Sang Kim, a battery technology expert and professor at Seoul National
University's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, has been
appointed as the new Director of the Advanced Institute of Convergence
Technology. His selection was based on his successful track record in
industry-academia collaboration and his proven leadership as Director of
Academic Affairs at SNU, where he led major institutional reforms including
establishing an undergraduate college and implementing performance-based tenure
systems. He will serve a two-year term until April 2027, leading Korea's first
government-academia collaborative research institution.
