Prof. Sang-woo Seo from Seoul National University's Department of Chemical and
Biological Engineering and Prof. Park Soo-hyung from KAIST were selected as
recipients of the 2nd SBS Cultural Foundation Grand Quest Prize. Prof. Seo's
research in microbial synthetic biology focuses on developing artificial cell
factories for producing pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and biofuels using
renewable resources to address climate crisis. The prize, established to secure
Korea's technological sovereignty, awards 200 million won annually to two
emerging scientists conducting paradigm-shifting research. The award ceremony
took place on April 24th at the SBS X Grand Quest forum in Seoul.
